Once you become an Alpha Phi, you have so much to look forward to! The chapter will organize into committees, planning sisterhood, social, scholarship, and philanthropy calendars for the school year.
Sisterhood
Whether you commute or live on campus, we want you to feel at home in Alpha Phi. APhi values and encourages the cultivation of a true sisterhood, which grows through both formal and casual events. When we perform our rituals at formal meetings, initiation, pref parties, and other ceremonies, we renew the traditions that have sustained our sisterhood for over 135 years.
In addition to these special times, our chapter will plan several fun, sisterhood events each semester in and around Elmhurst. These include spreading the Alpha Phi name around high schools, dinner events, tye dying, plaque exchanges, and going to movies together to build our sisterly bonds. The friendships that begin in college as Alpha Phis will continue on throughout our lifetime – and we will always remember the fun times we spent together at Elmhurst College.
Scholarship
Alpha Phi is serious about scholarship, and programs like our weekly study tables in the library and prizes to recognize scholarship and class attendance will help Alpha Phis have fun and achieve their goals at the same time! Occasionally through the year, our Director of Scholarship chooses a "Go Month" where those who have perfect attendance recieve a gift card to a cool restaurant or nearby store. We also use smarty and skippy jars where sisters can put their name in if they recieve an A on a recent test or paper.
Philanthropy and Volunteer Opportunities
Alpha Phi's make their mark on their local communities, and the Zeta Xi Chapter is no exception. You’ll work to identify local volunteer opportunities, like working in a food pantry and adopting a family during the holidays, as well as participating in Greek Philanthropy events such as Walk for Hope.
Aphi's philanthropy is the Alpha Phi Foundation which focuses on and raises money for cardiac care in women through events such as our Red Dress Gala and King of Hearts. Since 1946, Alpha Phi has donated more than $1 million to support cardiac care and help fight Heart Disease, the #1 killer of women in North America.
Social
The social calendar of an Alpha Phi is guaranteed to be balanced and is always a fun time! Functions, formals, sisterly's, tailgates, and Homecoming events will be some of the many social activities you can anticipate as an Alpha Phi.
